Auditions for “USO, The Music of War”

By | April 8, 2010

Q Artistry, the creative group that produced Cabaret Poe this past October, is having auditions on Saturday, April 24th and Monday, April 26th for an original show: USO, the Music of War

We are looking for 3 females and 3 males (age 16 and above), any ethnicity, to portray USO performers during WWII. Singing and dancing is required for each role, but in various degrees, so don’t let one of the elements discourage you from auditioning. Auditions will be by appointment only and all who audition should have the following prepared:

1 minute monologue prepared (comic or dramatic)
32 bars of a song (preferably a song from the 1940s, but we’re not THAT picky)

USO, The Music of War, is a musical review featuring the songs that made the war bearable for those in it and those who were left behind. Using actual wartime letters and true stories from the front, the show weaves it’s way through a typical USO performance of the time while engaging the audience with vignettes, scenes, and monologues that paint all the drama and spectacle that we know as “war”.

The show will open Friday, June 18th and run for four weeks on Friday (8pm), Saturday (8pm), and Sunday (2pm matinee) at the Lodge in Irvington (yes, that’s in Indianapolis.. just out on Washington), 5515 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219

The rehearsal process will begin around May 17th with times and dates depending on the cast availability. All performers will be paid (don’t expect to win the lottery).

Audition times are 10 – 4 (the 24th) and 7 – 8:45 (the 26th) and on first come – first serve basis, so email for an appointment as soon as possible at info@qartistry.org
