Auditions for a live production with horses and cannons “Last of the Mohicans”

Imagine sitting beneath a canopy of stars while thundering horses race across an expansive outdoor stage. Witness the excitement of military skirmishes and the majesty of Native American dances. Travel back in time and hear the crackles of muskets and roar of cannon as Fort William Henry bursts into flames before your eyes!

This theatrical production, written by Michael Dufault, is a brand new adaptation based on the timeless novel by famed New York author James Fenimore Cooper. The Last of the Mohicans Outdoor Drama, Inc. is a local non-profit organization working to bring this special project to life.

Seeking the following:
MALE ROLES:
Hawkeye – 40, Honest, straightforward American scout
Chingachgook – 45, Authoritative, imposing Mohican chief
Uncas – 20, Cingachgook’s son: passionate and impulsive
Magua – 30-40, Vengeful, cunning Huron warrior
Major Duncan Heyward – 25-30, British officer and gentleman
Colonel Munro – 60, Experienced, professional British commander

FEMALE ROLES:
Cora Munro – 22, Munro’s dark hair/complexion mixed race daughter: strong and courageous
Alice Munro – 18, Munro’s fairer, genteel daughter

PLUS…..also needed will be 6 athletic men to portray soldiers and Native Americans. These small speaking roles require much running, hand to hand combat, Native American dancing and firing of reproduction muskets.

Auditions will be held June 1 and 3 in Colonie for a live, outdoor theatrical version of James Fenimore Cooper’s “Last of the Mohicans,” to be performed in August at Fort William Henry in Lake George with French and Indian war re-enactors, horses and the firing of the fort’s cannons.

Sign-in: begins at 7 PM each day
For the audition, please prepare a 30-60 second monolouge showcasing vocal projection and be prepared to read from the script.
Rehearsals: Monday–Thursday evenings beginning June 21 in the Northern Capital District. Exact location TBA.
