Auditions for Romeo and Juliet

Repertory Company – Enfield, CT
The Valley Repertory Company is pleased to announce open auditions for Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, to be held Sunday January 30th at 6 p.m. at The Village Center of Thompsonville, 100 High Street, Enfield, CT, 06082. All actors must also be available for callbacks on Monday, January 31st at 7 p.m. Rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons beginning February 23rd. Production dates are May 6th-21st, 2011.
All actors must prepare a Shakespearean monologue for the Sunday audition (monologues need not be memorized, please visit http://www.shakespeare-monologues.org/ if you need suggestions). Sides from the play will be read at the Monday callbacks.
This production will be a modern-day interpretation of this classic play, preserving Shakespeare’s language. Roles will be available for a minimum of 9 men and 5 women. A woman will be cast in the role of Mercutio, Romeo’s best friend. Experience with Shakespeare is absolutely NOT required. Teen boys and girls are strongly encouraged to audition; only teens 16 and up may be considered for lead roles, but other roles may be available for teens under 16. It is highly recommended that teens bring a parent to the auditions.
