The AFD theater in Arlington will be holding auditions for “The Sweetest Thing in Baseball” by Rebecca Gilman. Casting for 9 roles for the show.

Rebecca Gilman’s THE SWEETEST SWING IN BASEBALL is a comedy about an artist, Dana Fielding, who is on the brink of disaster after a series of professional and personal failures. While in a psychiatric hospital, she begins to put back the pieces of her life in the most unusual way possible: she enlists the help of both her fellow patients and the man with “the sweetest swing in baseball” to rediscover her artistic voice!

Characters:
Dana (30-45): sharp, troubled, a big personality and a big talent
Roy (30-45): Dana’s estranged boyfriend; supportive but has his limits.
Brian (20s-40s): an artist; very hip hipster with an edge
Erica (20s-30s): gallery assistant; hungry, a little smarmy
Rhonda (40s): gallery owner; a little smug about her own power
Dr. Gilbert (30s): a doctor; she struggles with disappointment
Dr. Stanton (40s-50s): a doctor; she is sympathetic but distracted
Gary (30-45): a patient; intense and outspoken
Michael (25-40): a patient; troubled but sweet

Some roles may be doubled. Director seeking diversity in casting.

Auditions for The Sweetest Swing in Baseball

will be held at the AFD Theatre
on Thursday Nov 11 at 7pm and on Saturday Nov 13 at 1:00pm

with callbacks also on Saturday Nov. 13 at 3:30pm

Auditions will be readings from the script.
No monologues will be required.
