“Found” is a dark and disturbing coming-of-age drama about a boy who disco…vers his older brother is a serial killer. Based on the novel by Todd Rigney, “Found” centers around Marty, a shy, bullied fifth-grader who takes refuge in horror films… until his life turns into one. After finding a human head in his brother’s closet, Marty fears for the safety of his family while making a desperate effort to reconnect with Steve, the protective big brother whose homicidal cravings threaten to destroy life as Marty knows it.
“Found” is directed by Scott Schirmer (www.scottschirmer.com); produced by Leya Taylor & Damien Wesner. It will be shot in and around Bloomington, Indiana, over 18 days this May, June, and July. For more information, email scott@scottschirmer.com or visit “Found Movie” on Facebook.
Leading Roles
MARTY — boy 9 to 13 years of age: shy, bullied 5th grade boy who loves horror movies; a very dramatic and challenging role that requires a boy with very naturalistic acting abilities; a showpiece of a role that could get the actor a lot of attention when we hit the festival circuit next year.
STEVE — young man 18 to 24 years of age: reclusive, confrontational with his parents; unexpectedly kind to Marty; sinking into mental illness; racist; becoming a serial killer capable of monstrous and horrific things.
MOM — woman 40 to 50: kind and gentle to Marty (her baby), hurt by the cold shoulder Steve gives her; hard working, well-meaning; horrible things happen to her in the final act; this part will involve creating a life-cast of the actor’s head.
DAD — man 40 to 55: combatative with Steve, largely ignores Marty; he shows moments of genuine sincerity, but he’s mostly disconnected from his family; horrible things happen to him in the final act; this part will involve creating a life-cast of the actor’s head.
Supporting Roles
DAVID — boy 9 to 13 years of age; Marty’s only friend; getting tired of having Marty as a friend because people make fun of Marty so much and he doesnt want to be associated; gets into a huge fight with Marty
PREACHER DONALD — man 45 to 65; a well-meaning preacher featured in a long sequence at church; he delivers a sermon and later tries to convince Marty that violence is never the answer.
MS THOMAS — woman 50 to 70; a mean, uncaring 5th grade teacher who controls her classroom with an iron fist
MARCUS — boy 9 to 13 years of age; African-American boy who challenges the authority of Ms Thomas and torments Marty
BARBARA — woman 45 to 60; the preacher’s wife, teaches Sunday School, tries to break up a fight between two boys
RODNEY — man 22 to 32; a character in a movie within the movie; Rodney makes out with an attractive woman on a beach, then is killed by a sea creature.
HILARY — girl 9 to 13; one of Marty’s classmates who commiserates with him
“HEADLESS” VICTIM #2 — woman 20 to 30; mute role (unless screaming counts); tortured and killed in an exploitation horror movie within the movie.
