The Hot Mikado is an exuberant 1940 update of the classic Gilbert and Sullivan classic. It combines a classic with the excitement and abandon of American Swing, Jazz, Gospel and Blues…played in a fast paced contemporary idiom of zoot suits, slick gents and foxy ladies. The Mikado, Katisha and Pooh Bah sing in African-American musical styles.

Click here for an example of the style we’re talking about. This is the original West End cast performing “Three Little Maids.” Enjoy!
