FLAMING OF THE SHREW (an original Shakespearean adaptation)

When: 9/24, 11:00a – 5:00p
Where: 1133 S. Huron St. Denver, CO 80223
Seeking: 10 Actors, all male, comfortable playing gay, Shakespearean training in a plus.
When: Rehearsals will run 10/1-10/25 resuming 11/1-11/10 (dress & tech)
Performances: Fri & Sat 11/ 11 & 11/12 & industry night 11/14

Characters
Baptiste: 60-70 years of age, elegant southern gentleman.
KD : 30-40 years of age. The Shrew.
Bianca : 26-30. The beautiful drag queen.
Peter: He’s a Louisiana yat (dialect familiarity a plus), dashing, dapper & swarthy.
Graham : Foppish British suitor.
Hortensio: Spanish suitor, heavy, florid, overstated, “continental-man” accent.
Luke: The Southern suitor, thinks he’s straight but is clearly not.
Tranio: Understated, androgynous, sarcastic narrative role.
Dion : African American, flamboyantly gay & bitchy. Think True Blood’s Lafayette.
Positions are paid.
Salary : $75 a week during rehearsals
$100 per performance unless performances are extended, in which case, show stipend to be re-negotiated.
Hourly commitment: No more than 16 hours a week (tech and dress week excluded).
