Dear Producers,
We recently sold our home out in the country, kept whatever we could fit into a 20’ POD and lived with family and friends while we made offers on short sale homes. It took 4 months, but we were fortunate to purchase 2 foreclosed homes. Our main home is in Roseville, just bordering St Paul Minnesota. Built in 1988, 3 level split. We have done most of repairs, painting and new flooring. This home is furnished.
Our other location is in Bradenton Florida, which we purchased with our 20 year old son. We hope to retire there some day, but for now our son is currently living there. The Bradenton home is the property that is in need of the most attention. Florida is hit hard with foreclosures and the repairs we need done are pretty common for older homes in that area. Our home was built in 1966, cute 3 bedroom with pool with a Veranda style porch entry. This home is unfurnished.
We have a few projects and hope that one of them might catch your attention for a segment on your show.
Florida Project # 1
It took us a couple months, but we have come to the conclusion with the big water and electrical bills that we have a water leak. Since they lay plumbing, pour cement and then build the house it should be an interesting but common problem for this area. New to us since we are from Minnesota where plumbing is easy to get to. We may need an Infrared Imaging tool to detect leak so we know where to start busting up our floor. I hate to bust up the floor because the floors are typical Florida style pink tile and Terazzo. The other option is tore pipe, lay new PVC pipe up in attic.
Florida Project #2
3 season porch (Lenai) was enclosed with beautiful pine wood (which I don’t like – it doesn’t look Florida) with no insulation so very hot room, unable to keep air conditioned. They also enclosed it from the pool so we need to open it back up. We thought we would put in 2 french style slider doors which when opened brings the pool into the room. The pool is enclosed and already attached to where we want to open it. My son would like to decorate this room in a cabana or tiki bar style.
Florida Project #3
We need to open the pool area. The screen enclosures need some repair. The pool needs a couple small areas remarsided, and then a good cleaning before we can fill it. Hopefully the motor and pump works.
Florida Project #4
House is pretty much empty, in need of decorating and furnishing. I like the old Florida beach style and colors. My son is real modern style, but likes the Tiki type pool room.
Minnesota Project #1
Since parking space is at a minimum we would like to open the whole front yard as parking. The driveway is skinny asphalt on a hill to busy street, maybe 6 cars if careful. To one side is narrow area slopping down, other side is grassy slopping up with an area of homemade fountain. We would like to bobcat the higher side to the lower side to even out whole front area and have more parking and turn around area – also no grass to cut.
Minnesota Project #2
Walk out deck from kitchen. Put slider door where kitchen window is and a deck out to the backyard.
Minnesota Project #3
This project is not as important as the others, but when the previous owners left they crumbled parts of the chain link fence as they took out the shed and hot tub. So we have areas for a shed and hot tub to go.
Sincerely,
Tom, Jody, and Rocky Tschida
