“The Way I See It” by Copious Love Productions
Casting notice posted on auditionsfree.com, casting location: Seattle, WA
Copious Love Productions is a fresh, young, independent theatre production company. Started by two best friends brought together by their early love of the theatre, we write what we want, what we know, and what we love. We are concentrated on producing, writing, and directing our own original works. “The Way I See It” is Copious Love Production’s premiere. It is a four person one act comedy set in Seattle during its heyday, the mid-nineties. It recounts the story of a day in the life of Mia, a practiced cynic and outspoken music enthusiast, through the perspective of herself and those she encounters.
We are looking for four specific characters, along with the possibility of some company roles/extras. Characters do not have to be cast age specific; we can also rely on the magic of theatre costuming and make-up.
Brenda (mid-twenties): Mia’s best friend, she is tough but not as bitchy as she tries to look, in fact she has the more mild temper in the twosome. She has dark features and an edgy, yet feminine style.
Xander (mid-late twenties): The love interest, a dream boat. He is not as cool and collected as his demeanor appears to be. His cool guy uniform is a leather jacket, ripped jeans, boots and he has stubble on his face.
Steve (late forties): The unwillingly square boss. He tries hard to be accepted by the new generation by trying to be a friend not just a boss, but he finds the age difference to be a challenge. He has some facial hair to imply that he was pretty standard looking back in the 60’s.
Lady (mid-late forties): Former Suzy High School. Super enthusiastic almost bordering on cheesy. This is a small but important role that would only appear on tape, not on stage. Would only be needed for one or two rehearsals.
