Have you ever wanted to sing the National Anthem in front of a live audience at a stadium event? Well, here’s your chance.
The Bowie Baysox, a minor league team is holding auditions for singers.
The Bowie Baysox, Class AA affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and the home baseball team of Bowie, MD.
The Baysox hold these auditions every year and every year 50 to 100 people show up to sing their hearts out. The auditions will go on rain or shine.
The Baysox always have a live performance of the national anthem before each home game and there are 71 home games in the 2011 season. That means they need a lot of singers. The Baysox want to see solo singers, groups and even people who only play instruments.
The auditions for singers look for 3 things, skill, accuracy and time to sing. Anyone who passes the audition and can sing the song without using the lyrics will be added to the list of potential singers. That list is later used to book the singers for individual games. If more people pass the audition than there are games for, they are added to next seasons list and will have priority next season.
The Baysox are a big hit with the public, and several of their players have gone on to have successful major league careers. An evening with the Baysox could be your opportunity to meet the next generation of major league stars.
There are still some people on the waiting list from last year that didn’t get a chance, and they will have priority over those auditioning in March. After the wait-listed performers get their shot, it will continue down the line based on availability.
