Johnston Dance and Performing Arts (J-DAPA) is looking for actors, singers and dancers for the following roles in HAIRSPRAY:
Where: Johnston Senior High School
When: January 2, 2013, 6:30pm
-1 black/African American/Latino male (Seaweed- featured character, confident, loves to dance. Could be played by a teen or youthful adult (even well into their 30s) with dance, vocal and acting ability.
-1 black/African American/Latino male (Gilbert) featured character, confident, loves to dance. Could be played by a teen or youthful adult (even well into their 30s) with dance, vocal and acting ability.
-1 male to play Mr. Spritzer, Mr. Pinky and Guard. These characters are speaking, non-dancing and non-singing roles. Anyone playing these roles may double as an ensemble member.
-Multiple roles for a diverse cast of ensemble members (including Thad, Gilbert, Stooie, Lorraine, Duane, Students and Mr. Pinky’s Staff).

Auditions will take place at Johnston Senior High School. Please enter through the auditorium doors (last set of doors on the left when facing the front of the building). Anyone auditioning is asked to have a song prepared to sing that best shows your vocal ability. Please bring a karaoke CD of the song you will be singing to the audition.

    Hairyspray in RI, what a dream come true that would be. I know all the songs and my heart is so into everything that is Tracy. Just be be a back up singer or dancer would make my dreams come true. I don’t care how far I would have to go just to be a part of this. Please help my dreams come true!
