Auditions for the 2012 Virginia Renaissance Faire cast are upon us. The faire makes -use of a large cast made up of families, students, hobbyists, seniors and professionals, to make the fictional town of Staffordshire, England come alive. You, too, can be part of this exciting event. We are casting townsfolk, militia, noble household and musicians for the town minstrels. The faire is also interviewing demonstrators of historically relevant skills. Weavers, woodworkers, glass blowers, potters, artists and people with agriculture and animal husbandry knowledge are encouraged to meet with our education coordinator who will be on hand during the audition sessions.
Open call auditions will be held at the on Saturday March 10 and again on Saturday, March 17 from 10 am – 3PM in the theater room of the Rappahannock Regional Library Headquarters, 1201 Caroline St., Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
Auditioning is easy! Prepare about 90 seconds of memorized (or well-read) monologue (from a poem, play, movie, or even a joke). There will be set of improvisational exercises and you will be notified before you leave if accepted to the cast of the Virginia Renaissance Faire. The Virginia Renaissance Faire runs Saturday & Sunday for five weeks, May 12 through June 10, 2012 on the lovely grounds of the Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania. No acting experience is necessary and all training and costume instruction is provided. There is no age limit and participation makes a wonderful family adventure.
