A dynamic new stage play will be presented in Baltimore this fall, and performers are being sought to fill a variety of roles. Battle Stage Plays will be presenting this gospel stage play production based on the biblical story of “Esther” entitled “The Crown of Glory, & The Agony of Deceit.”
Auditions for this production will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Waxter Senior Center, located at 1000 Cathedral Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Battle Stage Plays is looking for performers of various nationalities ranging in age from 18 to 80 who are:
• Actors or Actresses
• Female models with acting ability
• Singers
• Musicians (Organists and Pianists Only)
• Full-figured Models
• Senior Citizens with acting ability
Men and women are also being sought to fill specific roles. These roles include:
• Man for the Role of the handsome “King Xerxes”
• Woman for the Role of the beautiful “Queen Esther”
• Male with singing and acting ability for Role of “Mordecai” (ability to deliver lines with preacher-like ability a major plus)
• Woman for the Role of the beautiful, conniving “Zeresh”
• Man for Role of the handsome, prideful “Haman”
• Men who are chiseled and buff for other roles including bouncers
Battle Stage Plays is also looking for talented musicians who can sing, act, and play the organ/keyboard. Many performers are needed. For those who would like to audition, but think you don’t have what it takes, Playwright Ursula V. Battle encourages you to come anyway and give it a shot.
Please bring (4) copies of your resume with a head shot attached, and be prepared to deliver a one-minute monologue (actors/actresses), singing presentation (singers), or to play your instrument (musicians). If you are a musician, you must bring your own keyboard.
Please ensure your head shot is up to date, and that your resume contains numbers where you can be reached for Callbacks. You should be prepared to read pre-selected excerpts from the script that will be provided during the audition.
While not required, if you have online samples of on-camera, stage play, or performance work, you may email those links. This exciting production will be performed in Baltimore for a consecutive, two-weekend engagement in fall 2012.
We are looking for committed people who are ready to be a part of what is certain to be one of Baltimore’s biggest stage play productions, and one Battle Stage Plays feels has national touring potential. Candidates must be able to commit lines to memory, and are reliable.
