“Give Me A Break” is a new Rock Musical launching from the start as a Tour! We will be touring the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex & surrounding areas on a multiple venue tour schedule. It is also highly likely the show will go on to a National level. In addition, for the first time outside of a Broadway Musical Launch, we will be recording an Official Cast Soundtrack CD! Because we know this is large commitment, talent will be offered stipends and/or proceeds of CD sales. We want the BEST in DFW Talent to represent a show ABOUT DFW Talent!! Please be professional, committed and ready to be part of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
BRIEF SYNOPSIS:
How far would you go to get your big break, to realize your fantasy of rock and roll stardom? This two-act, pop-rock musical, “Give Me a Break” is a funny, raucous yet touching story about a rock band’s arrival at a crucial crossroads, rendered chaotic by a turbulent mix of women’s lib, sexual freedom, hallucinogenic drugs, STDs and an offer they can’t–or won’t–refuse…
It’s Dallas, TX in the 1970s. Pulsar5 collectively yearns to attain rock stardom, but they diverge on how far they are willing to go to achieve it. Conflict climaxes when Pulsar5 auditions for a “big-time” agent. That’s when the two female and three male band members realize their ideals are irreconcilably different. In “Give Me A Break”, human frailties are hilarious and hair-raising. Reaching for a dream can squarely crush the heart of the lover boosting you up. And strength of the old friendships can be stretched to the breaking point when opportunity knocks. Is the force propelling Pulsar5 forward a prophetic magnetism drawing them closer to their true star, or is it a stellar wind pushing them to flame out?
REQUIREMENTS:
Headshots & resumes’ preferred. Be prepared to cold read from the script, and sing a song in the style of the show (FROM THE 70’s: Rock, Ballads, Rock Musicals, etc). You must either accompany yourself or bring a CD. MUSICIANS THAT CAN PLAY, SING & MOVE ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY !! The cast IS the band PULSAR5, so if you’re already in a band, come out and audition!!
NOTE: If you are auditioning ONLY for non-singing roles, be prepared with a 1-3 minute monologue that feature your talents.
The show does have choreography, but not extensively. You must be able to move well. Please come prepared for movement.
