Casting for The Sweetest Part – USC Graduate Special Project

The film is about a teenage daughter of a
Chinese immigrant family, who has an inner desire to become an artist while her mother wants her to become a doctor, which leads both of them into the choice making between family love and own dream.
It is a 20 minute short and awarded by the Peter Stark Graduate Producing Program and supported by USC’s SCA. The finished film will be shown at a number of Film Festivals all over the world as well as being seen by a lot of influential people in the film industry. A great opportunity for exposure.
It’s a 7 day shoot in LA, starting on Mar.11, 2012.
We are mainly casting 4 roles now. Please see descriptions below.
Mei – Lead / FEMALE / 45 TO 48 / Asian, Chinese
Required Skills – Languages: Cantonese, Chinese, English, Mandarin
Traditional Chinese mother, does everything for Ting’s good. Think about Joan Chen in the movie “Saving Face”. BILINGUAL IS A MUST.
The shooting dates will be Mar. 11-Mar. 17 in LA area.
Ting – Lead / FEMALE / 17 TO 19 / Asian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean
Required Skills – Languages: Cantonese, Chinese, English, Mandarin
Born in China and came to America when she was 10. A typical asian girl, seems quiet, nice, cute, sweet, an obeyer. But the fact is she is thoughtful, has her own goal in life. She can be naughty. Think of some one who looks nice and always say yes but does her own way anyway. MUST BE 18+ BUT PLAY YOUNGER. Bilingual is a plus.

Jun – Supporting / MALE / 45 TO 50 / Asian, Chinese
Required Skills – Languages: Cantonese, Chinese, English, Mandarin
Chinese father; mature and responsible; modest, good-tempered, and reasonable. BILINGUAL IS A MUST.
Two or Three days shoot between Mar.11 and Mar.17 in LA area.
Fefe – Supporting / FEMALE / 17 TO 19 / * Any Minority
American teenager; cute, outgoing, talkative, independent, open minded.
Two days shoot between Mar. 11 – Mar. 17 in LA area.
All the roles are non-pay, but you’ll get meal, credit, and copy.
