Rails West Productions is casting male and female singers/actors/dancers for their inaugural production of “Little Women”.
Cast Breakdown:
Jo March: The second oldest sister. A feisty tomboy who longs to be an author. Independent, outspoken, temperamental, energetic and ambitious. Her bold nature often gets her in trouble. Excellent stage presence is needed. Age Range: 16-22. Voice: Alto Belt. Dancing: Some movement.
Marmee March: A devoted and supportive mother. Earthly, strong-willed, wise, ethical and hard-working. Age Range: 42-55. Voice: Alto. Dancing: NA. ROLE IS CAST.
Amy March: The youngest sister. Artistic, self-centered, vain and manipulative. In her youth she is slightly spoiled and inclined to throw tantrums. In her adulthood she is cool, reserved and worldly. This actress much portray child-like and young adult. Age Range: 12-22. Voice: Soprano. Dancing: Some movement.
Beth March: The second youngest sister. An exceptional pianist. Virtuous, extremely shy, charitable, compassionate and simplistic. She says little, but her actions speak volumes. She is especially close with Jo. Age Range: 16-22. Voice: Soprano. Dancing: Some movement.
Meg March: The oldest sister. A romantic. Feminine, pretty, responsible, considerate, generous. Maternal instincts. Age Range: 16-22. Voice: Soprano. Dancing: Some movement.
Aunt March: A wealthy widow. Pretentious and crotchety. Age Range: 42-55. Voice: Alto/Mezzo. Dancing: NA. ROLE IS CAST.
Laurie Laurence: A charming neighbor. Clever, intelligent, playful, energetic and big-hearted. Age Range: 16-22. Voice: Tenor. Dancing: Some movement.
Professor Friedrich Bhaer: Jo’s mentor. Respected and shy philosophy professor. He critiques Jo’s work and is secretly in love with her. Speaks with a light German accent. Age Range: 30-40. Voice: Baritone. Dancing: NA.
John Brooke: Laurie’s tutor. Bookish and smart with a reserved manner. In love with Meg. Age Range: 16-22. Voice: Baritone. Dancing: NA.
Mr. Laurence: Laurie’s grandfather. Stiff curmudgeon. His gruff exterior hides the inevitable hear of gold. Age Range: 55-70. Voice: Baritone. Dancing: NA. ROLE IS CAST.

Auditions Will Be Held Wed Feb. 1 and Thursday Feb. 2nd by appt. only in the Upper East Side. Callbacks to be held Saturday February 4th 2-6pm.
Show will rehearse Tuesday-Thursday evenings 6-10pm for 4 weeks, then add additional Monday and Saturday Rehearsals.
Performances will be held at a location TBA in the East Village.
