Call for Auditions
Auditions for Harvey Milk 2013: Living the Legacy, produced by The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, with Music by Andrew Lippa will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. These auditions will be by appointment only, at The Baha’i Center of San Francisco at 170 Valencia Street, SF, CA 94103. Harvey Milk 2013: Living the Legacy will be presented on Thursday June 27 & 28 at 8:00 p.m. at Nourse Theater in San Francisco. Andrew Lippa will attend the auditions along with the Artistic Staff of The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. A pianist will be provided.
Character Descriptions:
Young Harvey Milk: Legitimate boy soprano with good acting abilities, who can portray young Harvey as sweet, simple and quirky. Please prepare the cut of “ An Operatic Masterpiece” which will be sent with your audition confirmation, or can be requested if you will be auditioning by video. Also bring another piece of your choice that shows vocal beauty as well as acting abilities.
Harvey Milk: Men between the ages of 25-50 who look legitimately late-40’s, but youthful and trim as Harvey was. You should be a Tenor (musical theater or legit) who is lively, fresh, big and broad in sprit and voice. Bring something that will showcase the full range of your voice. You may also be asked to sing excerpts from the score that will be provided at the audition.
Soprano: Legit soprano age 30-50 with a strong mix and ready to sing more contemporary music/rhythms. We are looking for a good actress who can be angelic, warm, embracing and loving. All ethnicities are welcome to apply. Please prepare the cuts of “Was I Wrong” and “Leap” which will be sent with your audition confirmation, or can be requested if you will be auditioning by video.
