New York City is a place of great theater culture where anyone can examine a dazzling array of different styles of performance art, but it’s rare to experience work that is truly “experimental,” irreverent, abusive and wicked. As a collective, we aim to turn classical theater on its head, take our art to a whole new level of expertise and architecturally create a truly unique experience for our audience…all while trying not to get arrested.
Do you want to join us? We are looking for artists who want to retell the most controversial and famous horror tale of all time, The Tragical History of Doctor Faustus! Yes, this is the play by Christopher Marlowe and it is experimental theater at its finest people! This is a very dark play with a very political message that we will perform using an experimental mix of “in-yer-face” theater styles drawn from a study of methods created by some of the greatest theater alchemist of our genre. We will record everything on our online forums and blogs so that we have something to leave behind when this is all over and are also going to be experimenting with 3D mapping and projection. We are now forming our acting company and there is room for eight more. Most actors will play many roles.
