Extras casting information, Big Stone Gap
The Adriana Trigiani novel “Big Stone Gap” is being made into a movie.
Extras casting for the film just began and an open casting call is scheduled for this weekend in Virginia.
The film is filming now in Big Stone Gap and it stars Ashley Judd, Patrick Wilson and Lewis Black. The movie is based on Adriana’s novel and it is also written by her.
About the movie:
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, the tiny town of Big Stone Gap is home to some of the most charming eccentrics in the state. Ave Maria Mulligan is the town’s self-proclaimed spinster, a thirty-five year old pharmacist with a “mountain girl’s body and a flat behind.” She lives an amiable life with good friends and lots of hobbies until the fateful day in 1978 when she suddenly discovers that she’s not who she always thought she was. Before she can blink, Ave’s fielding marriage proposals, fighting off greedy family members, organizing a celebration for visiting celebrities, and planning the trip of a lifetime—a trip that could change her view of the world and her own place in it forever.
The Virginia Film Office released the following audition notice:

Bill Marinella Casting is seeking extras ages 18 and over for the feature film
Big Stone Gap. These are paid extra positions, and some extras may be hired to work multiple days. The workday is always an entire day, 12-14 hours, so please be aware that they cannot hire you unless you are fully committed.
They are specifically looking for real Nurses, Doctors, EMTs, Coal Miners and High schoolers (18-24 year old students), football fans etc. In the subject line please include the role you are applying for (General Extra, Emt, student, etc.)
In a few days, they hope to meet everyone in person, for an open call.
FIRST in your email, please state how far you live from the Big Stone Gap area – (what town do you live in, is it within 30 minutes or an hour?)
Are you able to take a day off from work? The film is scheduled to shoot
SATURDAY October 19 through WEDNESDAY October 23.
PLEASE NOTE ANY TATTOOS YOU HAVE AND THE LOCATION OF THE TATTOOS (can you cover them up?)

I was out of town in Florida for a week at my daughter’s Wedding, so I was unaware of the casting calls. I still would like to be an extra if at all possible! You can see my picture on FB. I stand 5 ft. 4″ tall, and weigh 148 pounds. I wear a sz. 8-10 in jeans. Also a Med./Large in tops. You can see by my photos on FB that I’m attractive.
