Singer Auditions for Broadway show and national tour!
The Broadway show ‘MOTOWN THE MUSICAL‘ is doing a nationwide search for African American singers to join the cast. ‘Motown’ is based on the life of iconic Motown founder Berry Gordy, featuring music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalog.
This is a rare opportunity to audition for a Broadway show and maybe get a chance to work with the legend himself, Berry Gordy!
Berry Gordy just announced “Makin’ It Motown,” a nationwide open call casting search for African-American singers for both the Broadway production of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL and the upcoming national tour.
The production is seeking African-American men and women, ages 20 to 40, who can sing and dance. Also seeking African-American boys, ages 8 to 13, to play young Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Berry Gordy.
Berry Gordy, Jr. is a songwriter and music producer who was responsible for much of the motown movement and founding Motown Records which brought such music singing sensations as Mable John, Eddie Holland, Mary Wells, the Miracles, Diana Ross & The Supremes, The Four Tops, and The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, and The Miracles , The Temptations, The Contours, and Martha and the Vandellas, The Velvelettes, The Spinners, The Monitors, Chris Clark, The Originals, and Gladys Knight & the Pips.
“The Motown Sound” witch originated in Detroit. Is is what the record label was known for from it’s beginnings in the late 1950’s. From 1959 to 1972 Motown artists where at the top of the charts.
Producers Kevin McCollum, Doug Morris and Berry Gordy are proud to announce “Makin’ It Motown,” a nationwide open call casting search for African-American singers for both the Broadway production of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL and the upcoming national tour.
No prior theatre experience is necessary. All candidates must have amazing soulful voices to play different performers from Motown history. All vocal parts are encouraged to attend.

The first national tour will launch in Chicago in April 2014 with Atlanta performance dates to be announced at a later date.

What you need to bring with you:
- Bring sheet music for a song of choice from the Motown songbook that best features vocal range.
- Bring a picture and resume including contact information (cell phone, email) stapled together.
- A recent snapshot is sufficient in the absence of a formal headshot. An accompanist will be provided.
