Disney’s musical stage show “Mulan Jr.” is coming to Schaumburg Park. Open auditions are being held in early 2014 for various roles in the show for kids, tweens, teens and young adults. Ages 7 to 20 are welcome to come down to the community recreation center and tryout for the parts. “Mulan Jr.” is a musical so all kids attending will need to be able to sing.
“Mulan Jr.” is based on the Disney movie “Mulan”. The production will travel back to ancient China and the invasion of the Huns.
The show takes you back in time and tells the heartwarming story of Mulan, Mushu and their adventure as they try to save the Emperor. As the story beging, Mulan is dishonered by her family, Mulan dresses as a boy, steals a sword and sets out to help the army. After creating a plan to save the Emperor, Mulan’s honor is restored.
“Mulan Jr.” is a story of honor, loyalty, culture and includes some really great costumes.
Children’s theater auditions in the Chicago area:
Auditions for Schaumburg Park District’s spring production of Disney’s Mulan Jr. will take place from 5:15 to 7:15 p.m., Jan. 9 at the Community Recreation Center, 505 N. Springinsguth Road.
Parts are available for ages 7 to 20. Auditioning actors must bring a non-returnable head shot (or school picture) marked with name, age, address and phone number. Those auditioning must prepare a short acapella song. The fee if cast in the production is $70. An additional costume fee may be charged.
Pre-registration is required. Time slots to audition and registration are available at parkfun.com and District registration facilities. If not registered, actors will have to wait for an open time slot.
