Open casting call for comics and funny people
NBC is back with its annual search for comedic talent and stand up comics. Last year the show was called Stand Up for Diversity but this year NBC has shortened the name to “Stand Up NBC”. To go along with the new name a new logo has also been created. “Stand Up NBC” is a showcase dedicated to stand up comics. The comics who are chosen to participate in the showcase will have a chance to perform in front of leading agents, producers, directors and other industry professionals. This show is not aired on television and is an industry event that introduces new comics to the people who may hire them.
Past alumni of the show include Tony Bell who was cast as a Series Regular in NBC’s Whitney, Lil Rel who was cast in the new “In Living Color” and Host of FX’s late night show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.
About “Stand Up NBC”
In its tenth consecutive year, NBC is proud to present another groundbreaking year of Stand-Up for Diversity. Through this initiative comedians of diverse backgrounds have been launched to new career milestones. Each year NBC selects 3-5 cities across the country and holds both auditions and live showcases of the top diverse talent from that area. At the end of the search a handful of comedians are brought back to Los Angeles to showcase for key industry players at NBCUniversal and industry-wide. Many of the comics from last year’s Best of Stand-Up for Diversity showcase signed with top Hollywood agents and met with the entertainment industry’s leading casting directors and executives.
