Synopsis:
“My Name is Nobody” is based on the novel of the same title by Phillip Penza. This is the story of a boy becoming a man in 1970’s New York. He struggles with racial prejudice, true love and loss, and finding out what it takes to survive life from the streets of New York to the military at a very young age. To learn more depth about the stories or characters, you may want to read the book before auditioning.
“The pen is mightier than the sword” – Quote by Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Although this quote was originally stated in 1839, it is a saying my mother imprinted in my mind from the time I was a young child. This is not a story of a perfect family, in fact, the complete opposite. Dysfunction, love, co-dependency, violence, racism and discrimination, ignorance and fear all exist in this story. My mother taught me that with belief in self, determination and persistence I would be able to accomplish anything. I am dedicating this book to my mother, Doris Ann Gist and all the mothers out there that had to raise their children alone.
