SYNOPSIS
After being overworked at her thankless cubicle job in SF, 26 year old Emily decides to break away from the big city rat race to work on a northern California pot farm. However, her rejuvenating adventure soon spirals dangerously out of control and Emily must dig deep to overcome unforeseen drama.

Some spoken lines. Much of the story will be told with visuals and music soundtrack.
Filming in SF, Oakland hills and Russian River areas [some transportation reimbursement and a campsite to camp in will be provided if needed for the Russian River weekend shots]

CHARACTER BIOS
1. EMILY (LEAD), FEMALE, CAUCASIAN, AGE 23-30 (There will likely be a short non-nude makeout scene with Jason)
She has always lived life by the rules and within the system (decent college, day jobs, ballet lessons as a little girl, etc.). But playing by the rules has gotten her into school debt, lonely, and tied to a tech startup job where she works ungodly hours. She’s beaten down and lacks a bit of self-confidence. Working on a pot farm gives her the chance to break free and experience life, all while earning cash that will help her afford grad school. Meeting and falling in love with Jason is an unexpected bonus, but she’s not prepared for the other challenges that present themselves in her time up north.
2. HANNAH, FEMALE, ETHNICALLY AMBIGUOUS, AGE 24-32
She’s friends with Emily. They met at an urban farm. She’s a bit of a free spirit, loud talker, sexually confident but sometimes makes self-destructive decisions when it comes to drugs/men. She has a hearty laugh. Is VERY expressive. Cares for others but can also put people in their place when she needs to. She challenges Emily to step out of her shell but also relies on Emily’s stability. She asks Emily to work on the pot farm with her.
3. JASON, MALE, CAUCASIAN, AGE 27-37 (There will likely be a short non-nude makeout scene with Emily)
Jason is friends with the pot farmers and holds a “normal” job in the nearby small town. He’s an independent-minded good guy who thinks before he speaks. He’s single but isn’t interested in cheap women. He finds satisfaction in his balanced life of work, friends and living a rustic lifestyle in beautiful NorCal. He’s equally comfortable chopping wood and doing math. He’s instantly attracted to Emily.
4. CANYON, MALE, ETHNICALLY AMBIGUOUS, AGE 40-52
Mendocino native. Is strong, lean and self-reliant. Looks like he’s worked outdoors for a number of years. Hannah has worked on his farm for the past couple of summers. He’s got a keen eye for things yet is getting over a personal tragedy that happened only a few years ago.
ATTENTION:
This will be non-paid. Cast will be listed in the film’s credits, will receive meals, some travel reimbursements, free space to camp during the Russian River weekend shoot, behind the scenes photos, and a copy of the film.
SUBMISSION DETAILS:
Please specify which role you are applying for. Please submit your headshot, full body shot, reel (if available) and resume by Sunday, October 6, 2013. Selected actors will be provided dialog for the audition on October 12, 2013 in San Francisco (by appointment) or be asked to submit a video recording with provided dialog. We look forward to working with you on this exciting short!
NOTE: Cast must be comfortable with the topics of common recreational drugs but this is not a film about potheads constantly getting high.
We’re looking to shoot near October 25.
