“To Kill a Mocking Bird” Arizona Theater

The Central Arizona College Theatre department will be holding auditions for the spring play “ To Kill a Mockingbird”on Monday 28 January at 6:30 in the Pence auditorium. Call backs and stragglers will be held on Tuesday 29 January at 6:30 @ the Pence. If for some reason you cannot make auditions on the 28th then contact Dr. Owens at john.owens@centralaz.edu to make alternative arrangements.

“To Kill a Mockingbird” is adapted by Christopher Sergel from the now classic novel by Harper Lee. It is the story of a child’s “education” on the oppression of prejudice and the requirement for courage from each individual to uphold the human dignity of all.

Cast will consist of :

1 African-American female (very strong role)

2 African-American males (one older if possible but both good roles)

9 Caucasian/Hispanic males of various ages

5 Caucasian/Hispanic females of various ages.

(included in this are three roles for students who can pass for children)

Performances will be April 4,5,6, and 7. Rehearsals will generally be Tuesday-Friday 4-7pm (with Saturdays 10-2 beginning mid March). The final two weeks rehearsal will be 6:30 to 9:30 in the evening (with Sat and Sunday daytime rehearsal on the final week end).

Auditions will be done strictly by cold reading and there is no need for any sort of preparation.
