Project runway is back and casting for the 2014 season of the designer competition. Are you an aspiring fashion designer with your sights on the big time? Here is your chance to compete on the #1 design show on television.
Heidi Klum hosts this all out designer battle. 12 aspiring designers start the show and only one will be the last one standing to take it all.
Project Runway uses weekly elimination rounds, on the show to cut out the designers that fall short. At the end there are only a few that go to a head to head competition that brings their fashion to the catwalks of fashion week.
Through the show the designers keep getting challenged and may have to think outside the box. In previous seasons they have had to use all sorts of materials including things found in the grocery store isle, food, plants and even things that they were wearing. They also sometimes have the challenge to design for a well known celebrity, a wedding or other events.
Each week on the show brings new and elaborate creations. The designers are given a budget to shop with and are scored on what they created with those budgets. During the elimination, the designers are also given a chance to defend their creations in front of the panel before the cut is made.
For the Project Runway winners there are some cool prizes. A winner is selected by the judges, and receives $100,000 to start his or her own design line. Along with that previous seasons have given away magazine spreads, a car, mentorship in design houses and even a chance to get your fashions on the store selves.
The show is not only a competition for designers, Female fashion models, who work with the designers throughout the season, are also in the competition. The models are also competing and the winning designers model gets to remain on the show. They do throw some curves into the model competition and have allowed designers to switch models.
Tim Gunn acts as the shows mentor and in previous sesons judges have included Michael Kors, Nina Garcia and a slew of others which included Diane von Fürstenberg, Vera Wang, Zac Posen, supermodels and celebrities as well as past competitors of the show.

The casting team for the show will begin holding invite only casting calls for Project Runway very soon.
You must fill out the application and if selected, the casting directors will get back to you for a interview.
