Please visit www.universalauditions.com/japan to view videos and photos of the shows, and for more details regarding available roles. Once on the site, you can register for an audition time by locating the Register option at the bottom of the home page, and clicking on the Performer’s button.
Within 48 hours, you will receive an email with all of the specific details of your next step in the registration process.

Production and Role Descriptions
To be considered for a role at Universal Studios Japan®, all performers must:
Be 18 years of age on the day of the audition.
Have a valid passport or the ability to obtain one in a timely manner.
Be willing to relocate to Osaka, Japan for up to 13 months. Contract lengths vary depending on the role.
Be willing to work outdoors
Character Descriptions for Female Actors & Hostesses
Strong acting ability a must, with the flexibility to convincingly lip-synch Japanese dialogue.
Actors and Hostesses will be featured in regular, seasonal and special shows, greetings, events and parades. Singing and dancing skills a plus, but not required.
Roles:
Alice (from “The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland” series) – Cute and perky ingénue who is able to play ages 12-20.
Cinderella – Sweet, beautiful female actress to portray the fairy tale princess to play the age range 18-25.
Princess Fiona (Human version) – Sweet, beautiful and smart female actress to portray pre-orge Fiona from the Shrek® series.
Marilyn Monroe – Sexy female actress to portray the American Icon for guest greetings in the Hollywood section of the Park. Must be able to convey the subtle screen goddess nuances while interacting with guests.
Triwizard Tournament Prefect – Female actress to serve as hostess for the Triwizard Tournament Experiences in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. Must look and be able to portray high school age and speak English with a British accent. Candidates will need to learn a Japanese script and must be willing to work outdoors
Choir Master – Frog Choir – Female actress to serve as Choir Master and hostess for the Frog Choir Experiences in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™. Must look and be able to portray high school age and speak English with a British accent. Frog Choir Master candidates must have a sense of rhythm. Prior choir conducting experience a plus, but not a requirement. Candidates will need to learn a Japanese script and must be willing to work outdoors.
Character Descriptions for Male Actors & Hosts
Terminator 2:3-D®
The Terminator, Sara Connor and T-1000 come to life here, in the world’s first 3-D cyber adventure. This surround sound experience takes you beyond imagination as the battle for our planet rages on between plasma blasts, explosions and a hail of gunfire. It’s a pulse-quickening, live action stunt spectacular!
Roles:
The Terminator – Tall, handsome, body-builder type with strong features and good resemblance to original movie character. Universal Studios Japan® requires male performers of good physical strength and high athletic ability for running, jumping and climbing, to perform the T2:3D show as well as seasonal shows, events, greetings and parades.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ is coming to Universal Studios Japan®. Explore the mysteries of Hogwarts™ castle, visit the shops of Hogsmeade™ and experience pulse-pounding rides and attractions that transport you into a world of magical thrills and excitement.
Roles:
Hogwarts Express Conductor – Seeking male performers to portray mid 30’s – 60’s. Must be able to speak English with a British accent. Will be required to learn and perform the indicated English/ Japanese script below. Must have at least an N2 level of Japanese Language Proficiency (New JLPT N2) for speaking and listening in order to react with guests in the park. Must be willing to work outdoors.
Wandkeeper at Ollivanders™- Seeking male performers to portray mid 40’s – 60’s. Must be able to speak English with a British accent. Will be required to learn and perform the indicated English/ Japanese script below. Japanese language fluency/experience a plus but not required.
Shows & Character Descriptions for Singers who move well
Universal Monsters Live Rock and Roll Show™
Beetlejuice™, the comic king of souls recently departed, hosts this rock and roll/pop extravaganza. Frankenstein™, his Bride, The Wolfman, affectionately called “Wolfie” and Dracula join “BJ” in his favourite graveyard at midnight as they rock the night away accompanied by Hip and Hop, the mistresses of the morbid.
Roles:
Frankenstein – Male baritone pop singer 6’0 or taller, who sings to an F with nice low tones and a strong falsetto. Male singers who are called back for Frankenstein will be taught the Universal Studios Japan® audition version of Carlos Santana’s “Smooth”.
Bride of Frankenstein – Soulful, sassy and sexy female, alto or soprano, with a strong belt up to C#. Must have basic dance skills and a strong stage presence. Female Singers who are called back for the role of Bride Of Frankenstein will be taught the Universal Studios Japan® audition version of Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive”.
Male and Female Singers who Move well:
Throughout the year, we feature grand productions and fun, energetic musical shows featuring a variety of singers.
Roles:
Male and Female Pop Singers who are comfortable with various styles of singing including one or more of the following: gospel, pop, R&B and classical. Singers must be able to perform simple jazz style combinations. Additional dance ability a plus.
