Growing, professional dance organization seeks strong, versatile male and female dancers for its 2014-2015 Dance Company and Performance Troupe. High-profile Summer and Fall performances already lined up and growing. The organization has performed at major awards shows and festivals, music videos, sports arenas and auditions for television networks.
We specialize in fusing jazz, funk and hip-hop dance styles with the urban flavor of today’s Bollywood. We encourage dancers of ALL ethnicities, as long as you have a genuine interest in learning about and representing the new face of Bollywood, which has many Eastern AND Western influences.
WHO SHOULD AUDITION?
This IS for you if: your priority/goals are to train and develop yourself further as a dancer in our unique style and gain high exposure and invaluable experience to add to your dance resume and career.
This is NOT for you if: you are seeking short-term “gigs” and/or “pay” only. Most of our performances are NOT paid, but are very high-profile and offer you value/benefits in many other ways
TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT:
Due to our unique style, ALL Company and Troupe members (and potential instructors, which we often source from our Company and Troupe) are required to go through a formal intensive training program and probationary period, regardless of previous dance background. Limited scholarships available for exceptional talent.
AUDITIONS:
Friday, July 11th (evening) in Manhattan. By Appointment only.
REQUIREMENTS TO AUDITION:
-Genuine intention to grow as a permanent member of a jazz-hip-hop-Bollywood fusion dance organization over time.
-Willing to take the initiative to educate yourself about the various realms of Indian and Bollywood dance and culture as necessary.
-Must have a professional dancer mentality/ attitude- responsibility, accountability, dedication.
-Willing and able to make yourself available for performance rehearsals as necessary (TBA).
-TRAINING: Eastern or western dance training, including any style of Indian classical dance.
*PREFERRED*: Priority given to dancers with training across various styles (i.e. Western AND Eastern).
-Ability to learn and retain choreography quickly and execute well.
-Recent competitive college dance team graduates are encouraged to apply.
