Auditions for VIOLET

Carnation City Players is excited to invite performers to an open call for the upcoming musical production of VIOLET. Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on August 3 & 4 at the Firehouse Theater, 450 East Market Street Alliance, OH 44601.
Auditioners are asked to prepare 32 bars of music in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided (no a capella). Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required. Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
No appointments are necessary. Ages 13+ only, please. Seeking African-American actors to portray the role of Flick, a soldier, and the role of Gospel Soloist (actor doubles as Landlady and Woman Knitting).
Performance dates are October 10, 11 and 17-19, with Friday and Saturday evening shows at 8 p.m. and a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m.
VIOLET the musical is set in the Deep South during the Civil Rights Movement with book & lyrics by Brian Crawley and music by Jeanine Tesori. This production is directed by Edward Kuntzman.
VIOLET tells the story of a young woman’s quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime. Along the way, Violet forms unlikely friendships with her fellow riders, who teach her about beauty, love, courage, and what it means to be an outsider.
