Agape Actors Co-Op is thrilled to announce audition dates for our upcoming production of PRIVATE LIVES, Noel Coward’s classic comedy.
PRIVATE LIVES is widely regarded as one of the most sophisticated and entertaining comedies ever written. Elyot and Amanda–once married and now honeymooning with new spouses at the same hotel–meet by chance, reignite their old spark, and impulsively run off with each other. After days of being reunited, they again find their fiery romance alternating between passions of love and anger.
The roles of Elyot and Amanda have been pre-cast, but we are still looking for talented actors and actresses to fill the three remaining roles. . .
Character Breakdowns: (ages are just suggestions)
SIBYL CHASE — Female, supporting, 18-30
Elyot’s second wife. British. Young, attractive, innocent, the quintessential “nice” English girl. While Elyot’s 1st wife, Amanda, is independent, unconventional, confident, and feisty, Sibyl is none of those things. Whether she’s in love with Elyot, in love with the idea of being a wife, or a bit of both is anyone’s guess.
VICTOR PRYNNE — Male, supporting, 20-40.
Amanda’s second husband. British. Stuffy, stodgy, and without a sense of humor. The quintessential English gentleman. Victor is somewhat the male version of Sibyl.
LOUISE — Female, cameo role, any age
Amanda’s French maid. Has a brief appearance in the 3rd act and only speaks French. Can be played as somewhat judgmental of Amanda’s adulterous lifestyle. (NOTE: Your audition side will be in French with an English translation).
Audition Requirements: Please bring a headshot or photo and resume and come prepared to perform a cold reading from the script, and be prepared to perform your audition in the accent attributed to the role you are auditioning for. Please also fill out and bring the Audition Form found at www.agapeactors.com/auditions or come early to fill out an audition form when you arrive.
Performance Dates: February 26th — March 8th, 2015 (Thurs — Sat at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:30pm)
Rehearsal Schedule: Rehearsals are 7pm — 9:30pm, Monday thru Wednesday, with occasional additional Saturday mornings. Rehearsals start Monday, January 5th, 2015. All rehearsals will be held in the East View High School Black Box Theatre
Though occasional missed rehearsals are acceptable given advance notice, the following dates are mandatory. . .
