A new show filming in New Mexico is looking to cast some native American actors to play the roles of Crazy Horse & Sitting Bull. There will be an open casting call for the project tomorrow at the Santa Fe University of art & design. Robert Redford is a part of this project called “The West”.

Robert Redford has joined forces with the Discovery network to create a documentary about the 40 years between the end of the American Civil War and the turn of the 20th century.

“The West,” from Sundance Prods. and Stephen David Entertainment, will explore the characters of this violent, blood-soaked period in American history, from Jesse James to Crazy Horse to Buffalo Bill. Discovery will bow the scripted project in 2014. – Variety

This is a non-union project that will film in Santa Fe in May and June.

They are particularly interested in native American actors who have the ability to do some stunt work and are able to ride a horse.
