CASTING FOR FEATURE FILM “BLUE BALLOONS”
“Blue Balloons” is an honest, realistic story about a family’s struggle to care for their mother during her cancer treatment. A moving and beautiful portrait of how terminal illness affects the lives of five family members and their search for hope. Written, directed, and produced by Emily Troedson, the script was named a quarter-finalist for the Act One script competition.
Casting for the following principal roles:
HENRY KIPPSON (55-65): Husband to Joanne and father of Claire, Mara, and Sam; works as a physician, bald or partially bald, if not bald then mostly gray hair, a genuine and encouraging person who strives to be good and optimistic despite life’s stresses.
JOANNE KIPPSON (50-60): Wife to Henry and mother of Claire, Mara, and Sam; a gregarious and warm personality who is the foundation of the family, somewhat hot-headed but mostly tender and determined.
MARA KIPPSON (20-30): Middle child, sister to Claire and Sam; studies philosophy, loves to bake, somewhat fragile and quiet but not afraid to speak her mind, feels caught between school obligations and helping her family.
SAM KIPPSON (18-20) who can play younger): Youngest child, brother to Claire and Mara; goes with the flow of things, an all-around sweet kid who really wants to be helpful to his family, somewhat impatient and blunt.
DOCTOR WALSTROM (40-60): Oncologist to Joanne; a jovial and kind person, easy to relate to, sincere and caring toward his patients.
NANCY BERQUIST (45-65): Longtime family friend to the Kippsons; a real busy body, cheery and bubbly, a very supportive and loyal friend who will do anything to support the family.
ALICE EDWARDS (40-50): Pastor to the Kippson family; gentle and welcoming, thoughtful, offers guidance to Henry and Joanne, shows deep concern for the struggles of others.

– Saturday June 7th 9:30am – 4:30pm
– Sunday June 8 12:30pm – 4:30pm
– Wednesday June 11th 5:00pm – 8:30pm
