“Dazed and Confused” director Richard Linklater is now filming a new project in Texas which is being referred to as the spiritual sequel to “Dazed and Confused“.
Paramount Studios is backing the new film. Paramount has had a long relationship with Linklater and helmed the comedies “School of Rock” and the “Bad News Bears” for them some years back. According to Indiewire, the film’s cast brings on quite a few young up and comers which will include Tyler Hoechlin (“Teen Wolf”), Wyatt Russell (“22 Jump Street”), Ryan Guzman, Zoey Deutch, Will Brittain, and Glen Powell (“The Expendables 3”, “Ride Along 2“).
While the casting call lists the film as the “Untitled Richard Linklater Project“, both Deadline and Indie Wire have stated that the film is called “That’s What I’m Talking About” which others have abbreviated to “Twita“.
The film will be set in the 80’s and is a comedy about a college bound baseball player coming into adulthood. When he gets to college to join the schools high rated baseball team, he finds himself in the mix of the wild and hard-partying group. While the film is set around baseball, reports state that it will not be a a film focused on the sport. According to a Deadline article, Linklater considers it a closer cousin to his 1993 film Dazed And Confused.
Since this is a film set in a college, the movie needs lots of college aged extras to play the students on campus and elsewhere. They are seeking men between the ages of 18 and 25 who have hair on the shaggier side. Also, they are looking for some cute girls to play sorority girls. The scene will be filming in the San Marcos area this weekend and there is also a mandatory fitting for background actors cast either on the 9th or 10th.
