Will Smith’s new film is still filming in the Pittsburgh, PA area and folks can still apply to be extras.
Pittsburgh residents can make a little extra cash for the holidays as movie extras in Will Smith’s new project.
The untitled film is based on a GQ article called “Brain Game” about chronic traumatic encephalopathy, an illness caused by repeated blows to the head. Will Smith will be playing Bennet Omalu, the Nigerian doctor who discovered chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and was met with much criticism for his discovery.Dr. Omalu first noticed the problem after performing an autopsy on former Pittsburgh Steeler Mike Webster. He later went on to study more players for his research of CTE. The NFL’s criticisms of the doctor and his research were scathing. In an interview Dr. Omalu stated “They insinuated I was not practicing medicine; I was practicing voodoo“.
Ridley Scott’s production company, Scott Free and Sony Pictures are behind the concussion project. The film held a extras open call a few months back but is still in production and in need of more background talent. Extras casting directors for the film are now seeking background talent in the Pittsburgh area for scenes filming next week on the 24th and 25th. This will be a night club and bar scene. Those who would like a chance to be cast in the project can follow the below directions to get tyheir submissions in.
