Independent Film auditions for primary roles

What’s worse than working in a mundane job working in Retail. At least for Marie a young budding artist who has her whole life and career planned out until it is snatched from her grasp. Now with nothing more than broken dreams and disenchanted with life she heads back to the field she hates…Retail. But when the plans stops working it is the spontaneity of life that takes her on a whirlwind adventure with career highs, a few cute men, and great friends to show that life is best enjoyed with limited planning and maximum creativity.

Please bring headshots and prepare a brief monologue. Be ready to read sides.

Roles

Ian (All Ethnicities, Late 20s to Mid 30s, Prefer if able to do British accent) A charismatic English playboy. Ian is a cool, calm , and collective. He was raised between London and New York hailing with a family immersed in the arts. Ian is not as talented of an artist, but quite the violinist. Ian has always had his choice of women and never had to pursue until Marie. She challenges him and makes Ian think. While many see his charming, popular guy act it’s with Marie when he shows his goofy , sarcastic ways.

Liam (All Ethnicities, Late 20s to Late 30s) A laid pretty chill person who is an acquaintance of Guy and Ian. Liam dates Sam and balance to her spit fire personality. Liam is an accountant at one of the Marketing firms that represent both Guy and the museum which Ian works. Liam is a Chicago native quiet at first, but once you get to know him he is quite the talker and jokester.

Marie (All Ethnicities, Mid 20s to Early 30s) A dreamer and a planner. Marie has planned everything her whole life from what she’ll pursue to the exact minute to sleep. Marie came from a hard working middle class family who supported in all she did coming from a small suburb outside of San Francisco. Marie always wanted to be an artist and also a curator for other could learn the joy of art. Working in retail was part of the plan because she knew there was always something bigger until that something blew up in her face. Now Marie was without a plan a first for her. Swallowing her pride she went back into retail something she hates so much because it seems like stupidity rules. Learning with the help of her best friend, Sam that sometimes its ok to go off script.

Sam ( All Ethnicities, Mid 20s to Late 30s) A wild child. Marie’s best friend from back west moved out to Chicago sometime ago to make her dreams in PR. She is now publicist at one of the hottest firms in town. Sam is the daughter of a Cop and Hippie so she is all love, but very blunt. She is truly tequila with no chaser. She encourages Marie to pursue her dreams but does not throw a pity party with her. Sam drinks and curses like a sailor all while being a fahsionista. Sam dates Liam who is her yin. He calms her and shows the soft side that many do not see of her. She is not a fan of Guy and cheers on Ian because she sees the feelings he has for Marie.
