“Goosebumps” is beginning production and will be holding an open casting call in Atlanta this weekend.
Jack Black will now be starring in the remake of the kids classic creep tale, “Goosebumps“. “Goosebumps” is a TV series from the 90’s whose episodes where all different short stories, kind of like a “creep show”, but for kids. The original series ran from ’95 to ’98. It was based from the series on novels written by R.L. Stine.
Remember “Goosebumps“? The show that was a staple to some of our Saturday morning schedules may years ago….. Yep, the creepy series is coming back as a feature film and Sony Pictures has added Jack Black…. to add some extra creepiness into the mix. The series was like the training wheels of horror, no one ever got mutilated and the monsters and zombies looked incredibly fake, but they did get scared and that was horror enough for the kiddies.
Sony Pictures is behind the film and the old “Goosebumps” TV series is coming to the silver screen. The film is based on the series of teen novels by writer R.L. Stine. Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. Aliens) is directing “Goosebumps“, and that Jack Black is actually playing the writer R.L. Stine. The story line is about a teen who happens to move in next door to the author played by Black where he somehow releases the monsters, zombies, etc. from Stine’s books, or so we hear. Guess we will have to see if ‘Slappy the dummy’ makes it back into the mix.
The film begins filming later this year in April of 2014 and has already announced that filming will be taking place in Atlanta. The production has issued an open casting call for teenagers and up for grabs is the speaking role of ‘Dwayne’.
About the speaking role being cast:
Dwayne is described as a naturally funny young man whose size is that of a football star.
The open auditions are specifically for teenagers. They are looking for 16 years old or older that can look and play younger. Sorry there will be no exceptions to the age requirement.
All extras will be paid, but travel expenses are not covered.
Casting directors do ask that those coming to audition do abide by the age guidelines because they will not be considering anyone younger that 16. They would also like everyone to bring a current photo of themselves that they can leave behind with casting directors.
