The N.W.A. biopic “Straight Outta Compton” is looking to cast the principal roles of Ice Cube, Eazy E and Dr. Dre.
The film held auditions in the Atlanta and Los Angeles areas already and is moving to Chicago for the next round of open auditions.
The film is looking to find people who can portray Ice Cube, Eazy E and Dre when they were young and part of the gangsta rap movement. The film has been in the works for many years and it seems to finally be moving into pre-production and casting stages.
F. Gary Gray will be directing the movie about notorious 90’s era Gangsta Rap group, N.W.A. Ice Cube (Cube Vision Production Company), Dr. Dre (Crucial Films ) and Eazy E’s widow, Tomica Woods, are producing the Universal Pictures project. N.W.A. pioneered Gangsta Rap in the 90’s. The very controversial rap group was well known for their explicit lyrics and controversy surrounding the group and it’s members.
In an interview, Ice Cube recently stated that the film hopes to get rolling sometime in April and that the story will ” encompasses hip-hop, dope-dealing, Reaganomics, Aids, LAPD, rap feuds, FBI, PMRC, the Parental Advisory stickers on the records … all of it.”
The next stop on the nationwide audition and talent search is Chicago! You do not need to have acting experience to qualify for the roles, you just need to be able to pull it off and maybe look like the part.

The open casting call will take place Saturday at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios. They will be meeting with potential cast members from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Parking is available at 2620 W. 16th Street.
Here is what they are looking for:
African American males in their late teens to late 20s for the roles of Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and Eazy E. No experience is necessary.
Everyone has a chance for this project!
They are looking at people from all over and those that are not local to the Chicago area still have a shot because they can email their submissions as well.
