‘Mozart in the Jungle’ casting notice in NYC
‘Mozart in the Jungle‘ is a new Amazon show that was created by Alex Timbers, Jason Schwartzman and Roman Coppola.
The series is filming in the New York City area and casting directyors with GWC in NY are looking for a SAG / Aftra Bassoon player to fill a very featured role.
The new show is filming this fall in New York City. According to THR interview with Alex Timbers, the show’s writer, the show is a behind the scenes look into the world of classical music. Timbers told THR that the show is “based on this memoir called Mozart in the Jungle: Sex, Drugs, and Classical Music and it shows a little bit of the underbelly of the classical music world — the politics and the more illicit side as well.” Seems what happens behind the curtains when they close may more captivating than what goes on stage.

The drama of “Mozart in the Jungle” opens during America’s Cold War-era optimism, and follows four musicians as their world dissolves into a culture of entitlement for a new generation of classical musicians, who are deaf to changing American tastes and demand. By weaving memoir with investigative arts journalism, Tindall shatters rhetoric about the arts in the United States — in an real-life tale from a musician whose career paralleled America’s late twentieth-century culture boom. As “Mozart in the Jungle” races to its dramatic conclusion, Tindall reveals music as a simple, spiritual gift accessible to all.
The show is Timbers first stab at television, he will not only be writing the show but directing as well. Starring in ‘Mozart in the Jungle‘ is Gael Garcia Bernal, Malcolm McDowell and Bernadette Peters.
