Open Auditions for “Te Ata” Coming to Albuquerque & Tulsa

Lead and supporting roles are available for native American actors

The new “Te Ata” biopic about the Chickasaw Performer is in the process of a nationwide audition tour to fill out the film’s cast. There are 2 more open calls this month and the production has plans to open up online auditions for those that can not make it to one of the open call locations.

The production has just announced more audition dates and cities. They will be coming to Albuquerque this weekend and Tulsa in the coming weeks. The film has over 20 speaking roles to fill. While they are mostly seeking native American actors, they also have some roles open for Caucasian actors as well as those of mixed race.

 Te Ata traveled the world performing and working to further the knowledge about Native cultures. She performed all over the world in a career that spanned 6 decades and entertained the British Royal family as well as President Franklin D. Roosevelt. She was an actress and drama teacher and is well known for her performances of American Indian Folklore.

Te Ata Thompson Fisher who went by Te Ata, meaning “Bearer of the Dawn”  was the third Tribal member inducted into the Chickasaw Hall of Fame, in 1990. The new film about her life is being produced by the Chickasaw nation and the breakdown information states that there are available roles for Native American actors, Caucasian actors and also those of mixed race.

The production will be a full length feature film. There are over 20 roles available in all different age groups, you can see the breakdowns and sides here.

Casting call for native American actors in Te Ata Feature Film

Those who attend are asked to bring a 8×10 headshot as well as their resume. Actors will have to do a reading for the film’s casting directors which will roughly be about 2 minutes in length. The production also asks that actors arrive at least 30 minutes before the audition closing time in order to be seen.
