Open casting call for lead roles in short film “Buffalo” – Albuquerque NM

There will be an open casting call for a short film in Albuquerque New Mexico this coming Saturday. The film is seeking to fill various non-paid roles which includes the films 2 male leads.

The film will be shooting this coming spring 2014 in New Mexico.

The film is created by Julian Alexander and Something Fresh Productions. It is produced by Keagan Karnes. All roles are non-paid and offer copy/credit only.

Lodging, Travel and meals will be  provided. Film will shoot 5 days in Cubero, New Mexico, One day in Ruidosso, NM, and one day at a location to be decided.

About the project:

Buffalo is a short film set in New Mexico in 1877. It tells the story of 2 men who find a connection on a journey that brings them into a battle with the Apache. One of the soldiers is African American and the other is white.  “Buffalo” explores racial tension and human connections that can transcend those boundaries.
Movie synopsis

The film is seeking to fill both lead roles of Sergeant Young and Wilson, the 2 soldiers whose relationship is at the center of this project.

Open casting call for short film “Buffalo” to be shot between March 20th and 30th, 2014. 

Casting will be at Flying Star (Silver and 8th street) this Saturday, January 18th from 2pm-4pm.

We will be casting for the roles of-

Sergeant Young, 25-35, African-American
A former slave, emancipated when he was 15 years old. Young is a well built, confident ,quiet man. He carries a lot of remorse due to his inability to save his mother at the hands of their slave master.

Officer Wilson, 25-35, Caucasian
A sincere, understanding man. Driven by the hatred of his father, Wilson is more accepting then his colleagues. His soul is sad and tortured as he is haunted by the approaching death of his mother.

Young’s Mother, 35-45, African-American
A very loving and protective mother. A life of slavery has broken her spirits, and her son is the only thing she has left to live for.

Bob, 35-60, Caucasian
Bob is a rugged and experienced hunter.

Harvey, 30-55, Caucasian
Harvey is Bob’s brother from the city who comes to visit for a hunting trio with his son, Tim.

Tim, 16-25, Caucasian
Tim is a young man from the city who wants to impress his fatther on the hunting trip.

Redhawk, 30-60, Native American (Apache)
Redhawk is a naturalist Apache hunter, hunting for buffalo with his son.

Blackhawk, 15-30, Native American (Apache)
Son of Redhawk, he has become more accustomed to the white man way of life. He uses a rifle instead of a bow.
