Scales of the City – San Francisco A Cappella Singing Auditions

You’re invited to audition for the coolest a cappella group in San Francisco (if we do say so ourselves). Scales of the City is holding auditions for our 2014 season for sopranos and tenors on July 23rd and we want to hear from you! Check us out at www.scalesofthecity.com.

Who we are:
Scales of the City is co-ed a cappella group here in San Francisco. Based on the model of a collegiate glee club, but decidedly updated, we’re a diverse group of San Franciscans who love singing pop music from our childhoods and today, with a sprinkling of showtunes just for kicks. We’re all about making great music to share, and having a great time doing it. We run the group ourselves — so in addition to singing, you have the opportunity to participate on one of our teams (concert production, operations, communications, etc.). And we tend to hang out with each other for fun social stuff, too (optional).

Who we’re looking for:
We’re seeking talented singers — who are down to acquire a group of new friends — to fill vacated slots in our acca-family for the 2014 season. Specifically, we are currently in need of tenors and sopranos.

Interested singers must be able to attend the majority of our weekly rehearsals on Wednesday evenings in San Francisco, and be available to sing in our 2014 season concerts on November 8th and 9th. There will also be additional rehearsals as the concert date gets closer. Bonus points for people who can arrange music for a cappella, beatbox, or bring any other unique skills to the table!

When: Wednesday, July 23rd, 6:30 — 9:30 pm (you will be assigned a timeslot)

What you need to do: RSVP to info@scalesofthecity.com to let us know you’re coming and include a description of your musical background. Please prepare 30 seconds of a song to sing unaccompanied. During your audition, you will also be asked to participate in pitch, sight-reading, and range exercises. Callbacks will also be held later that evening, and you will be notified shortly of next steps after your audition.

If you cannot make this date, please let us know and we will see if we can accommodate you.
