Upcoming auditions for “Cats” Musical to be performed on Caribbean Cruise Lines.
Are you a performer who would love travel the world on board a luxury cruise ship while getting paid to do what you love…. perform? Royal Caribbean Cruises has auditions scheduled in NYC and London for their production of the musical “Cats“.
Royal Caribbean will be presenting the Award Winning Musical, “CATS”, with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and originally produced by Cameron Mackintosh. This full length Broadway musical will be presented alongside “COME FLY WITH ME”, an original production Aerial Show. Cast members will be featured in both of these shows in a state-of-the-art theatre and will take audiences on a unique and exciting journey.

Additional information for those coming to the open auditions:
Come prepared with your best 16 – 32 bars of a ballad and an up-tempo in contrasting styles. Vocal styles should include: Pop/Rock, R&B, Contemporary Musical Theatrer, and Jazz. Sheet music is required in the proper key. An accompanist will be provided. Must have strong acting ability and be prepared to read sides. Singers will be taught a movement combination and should come prepared with proper dance attire. Singers will also perform in our 2nd production show. Vocal versatility a plus.
Females should have a vocal range between G3 – C5 with a strong, controlled belt/mix up to an F5. Must also be able to produce sultry alto notes as well as the ability to sing light and floaty in upper register.
Males should have a vocal range between C3 – A4 and must be able to sustain upper notes. Some roles require a strong falsetto up to an F5.
Come prepared with your best 16 – 32 bars of a ballad and an up-tempo in contrasting styles. Vocal styles should include: Pop/Rock, R&B, Contemporary Musical Theatre, and Jazz. Sheet music is required in the proper key. An accompanist will be provided. Be prepared to learn three challenging combinations of contrasting dance styles. We are casting versatile dancers who are athletic with strong technique in ballet and jazz and acting abilities. Tap dancers and dancers who have aerial skills a plus, however not required. The following ensemble roles will be cast from this call; Demeter, Syllabub, Rumpleteazer, Cassandra, Tantomile, Victoria, Mungojerrie, Coricopa, Plato/Macavity, Alonzo, Tumblebrutus, Pouncival and Mr. Mistoffelees.

Rum Tum Tugger is the ‘rock-star’ cat, with a wild comedic sexuality. Must be a charismatic performer with a fantastic rock/ pop voice with very strong falsetto, great presence and good dance skills. Playing age 25 – 35. Ideally over 5’ 10” tall.

Grizabella is a survivor, but she is vulnerable, and now outcast from the tribe. She was once very glamorous, but with age her beauty is fading. Sings ‘Memory’. An exceptional singer/ actress with sensational, powerful vocals needed. Must possess a wide dynamic vocal range with rich lower tones, and wonderful high belt to E flat. Playing age – 35 – 55.

Jellylorum is practical and loving, a storyteller. Sings ‘Gus the Theatre Cat’ with Gus, and appears as ‘Griddlebone’ in ‘The Ballad of Billy McCaw’. For this role we require an excellent soprano with a crystal clear top C. Very good movement and comedy skills. Playing age 25 – 45.

Bustopher Jones is a sophisticated and upper class cat, respected by all. Gus is the theatre cat – a fragile old cat who in his dreams becomes a swashbuckling pirate, who fights to his death. A fantastic character actor/ singer with excellent comedic skills to play these two distinct roles. Strong high baritone/ tenor to G sharp and very good movement skills needed. Playing age 31 – 55

Old Deuteronomy is the beloved leader of the tribe. Seeking a mature actor with excellent high baritone/ tenor vocals to G sharp. Must be able to express authority, dignity, wisdom, and humility – also great warmth and fun. Small amount of movement required. Playing age 35 – 55.

Jennyanydots is the ‘Gumbie Cat’. Motherly, an Edwardian ‘do-gooder’. For this role we require a character actress and singer who must have strong tap dancing skills. Great comedy skills and good movement needed. Playing age 25 – 45.

Mr Mistoffelees is the magician – impish, with an expansive personality. Must be a phenomenal and exciting principal dancer with outstanding classical technique, who can execute multiple turns a la seconde effortlessly. Gymnastic skills and tricks a plus. Good high baritone vocals. Playing age 20 – 32. Ideally under 5’ 8”.

The son of Old Deuteronomy, who takes the lead in his absence. Sings ‘Old Deuteronomy’ and ‘The Pekes and the Pollicles’. For this role we require an excellent baritone singer with a commanding presence. Very good movement skills required. Playing age 25 – 35 Ideally over 6’ tall.

Skimbleshanks is the railway cat – a fastidious, neat and ordered cat, obsessed with punctuality and cleanliness, yet possessing a big heart and sense of exuberance. An excellent high baritone/ tenor with very strong dance skills required. Must have authority and a bright personality. Playing age 25 – 35 Maximum height 5’ 10”.

Bombalurina is one half of the duo who sings ‘Macavity’. Tall and statuesque, a lightly sexual female, who is also a fierce protector of the tribe.
Must be an excellent and experienced dancer with fantastic extension, and also excellent mezzo vocals. Playing age 25 – 35 Minimum height 5’ 8”
