“Lucha” –  Non-union indie film. All roles are unpaid and film will be submitted to the Louisiana Film Prize. “Lucha” will be filmed in the Shreveport/Bossier areas. Written and Directed by Ali Kareem, produced by Rocio Yepez.

“Lucha” is a young boy obsessed with lucha libre (masked wrestling). His father, a hard working man, is strongly opposed to Lucha going to see his favorite wrestler without giving him any valid explanation. Unbeknownst to his father, Lucha decides to go meet his favorite wrestler only to find a shocking truth about his father that forces him to decide who his real hero is.

Character breakdowns:
Lucha, 8-12, Hispanic, ambiguous ethnicity, a young adventurous boy who will do anything to get what he wants

Dad – 30s – 40s, Hispanic, ambiguous ethnicity, hard working father who would do anything to put food on the table for his family, yet is hiding a secret from his children

Mother – 30s – 40s Hispanic, ambiguous ethnicity. A gentle and caring soul, who struggles between balancing her work as a house-cleaner and her duties as a mother

Sister – teenager, 16s – 20s, Hispanic, ambiguous ethnicity, high school student who is the closest person to Lucha from the family
