Saturday Night
Location: Boston, MA
Type: Student Films
This is a student film project at Harvard University supervised by award winning filmmaker.
Synopsis:
On a Saturday night, three Chinese students studying at Harvard decide to go to a party together because they want to blend into the American culture. However, since they were not comfortable with hooking up and getting drunk, they were hesitant and ended up wandering around the campus and in the street trying to find something to do. At last, they decide to go to the party anyway, but when they arrive the party is already over.
Ideally, the style would be similar to Hou Hsiao-hsien and Jim Jarmusch, and a little bit of Richard Linklater’s “Dazed and Confused.” There wouldn’t be too much dramatic conflict. Instead the short film would be plain, slow, but also with some sense of poetry in its slowness.
