“The Box NYC,” a staged variety show founded by Richard Kimmel and Simon Hammerstein incorporating elements of vaudeville, burlesque, circus, cabaret, modern dance, experimental theater, and sideshow.

Mistress/Master of Ceremonies (Lead)
Males & Females, 18+, All Ethnicities
Role Description: a multi-talented performer who emcees; a larger-than-life character with broad vocal range. Additional consideration given to dancing ability, improvisational skills, interesting personal back story, and other unique talents such as acrobatic and circus experience. Advanced vocal ability for stylized performance of classic rock songs in theatrical setting. Ability to follow direction, blocking, and basic choreography.
The Master / Mistress of Ceremonies engages the crowd and sets the tone for the evening’s entertainment. Introduces each performance of the evening. Delivers commentary on performances in a way that heightens the audience’s experience. Able to “work a room.” Improvisational and acting skills to connect a thread between disparate show elements and create an engaging onstage persona.
