Call for Choreographers & Dancers

CALL TO ARTISTS:
ZUZI! Dance is accepting submissions for their 18th annual Winter Solstice Celebration. We are looking for 2 dance choreographers, 4 dancers, and 1 actor to fuse forms and collaborate creatively.
This show is inspired by the Venezuelan Winter Tale “The Light Keepers Box”. The performance gathers dance, music, visual arts and spoken word artists of varied styles to collaborate and create a fascinating work.
Rehearsals will start mid-November; weekends and some weekday evenings. Free Rehearsal space and an honorarium will be arranged.
Production meeting with selected artists: November 15
Performance dates are:
December 18 – Student matinee – Noon
December 19 – Matinee – 2pm
Dec. 20 and 21– Evening performances – 7:30pm
Technical and Dress rehearsals dates are:
Dec. 14, 15, 16, 17 – 5:30-9:30
Submission deadline is Oct. 15, 2015

A brief history of ZUZI! Winter Solstice Performance Celebration:
The word Solstice literally means “standing still sun.” The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year; it marks the turning from the cold, dark days of winter to the warmer, lighter days of spring and summer. Traditionally, this season was used as a time of reflection, renewal, and community celebration.
Since its inception, ZUZI! Winter Solstice performance has been its signature yearly event. Comprised of professional as well as community and aerial dance artists, this show is a must for families and loved ones to share in this season. All performances will be at ZUZI! Theater in The Historic Y.
