Comedy film casting kids and seniors in New York
The 1979 George Burns comedy “Going in Style” is getting a remake and now casting background actors in the New York City area.
The movie began filming recently in the NYC area and has a casting call out for a carnival scene. The movie is casting kids and seniors. The kids will be playing carnival goers and the seniors are needed to play club members, think VFW, Elk’s Lodge types.
The original “Going in Style” starred George Burns, Art Carney and Lee Strasberg as three senior citizens who got bored with their mundane lives of living off social, feeding pigeons in the park, and reading newspapers for a hint of excitement. The three roommates decide to do something completely crazy…. something daring and exciting, something that will make the papers… like a bank robbery. The three men are not criminals but decide “why not?”.
The remake will star Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin as the senior citizen trio turned bank robbers. According to Variety, Matt Dillon and Ann-Margret have also joined the cast of the caper comedy. In the 2016 version of “Going ion Style“, Freeman, Caine, and Arkin play three retired men who lose their pensions that they have worked for their entire lives. Desperate for money to survive, they plan a heist on the bank that is withholding their retirement from them. Matt Dillon plays the FBI agent who is hot on their trail and Ann-Margret has the role of one of the characters love interests. “Going in Style” also stars Joey King and Maria Dizzia and will be directed by Zach Braff. the original comedy was a solid performer for Warner Bros ranking in 30 Million…. back in ’79.
