Oakland Theater Arts Guild presents AUDITIONS for the Broadway BIG hit musical: HAIRSPRAY
Hairspray features music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. The show is based on the film of the same name about a chubby teen who becomes a star overnight when she wins a role on her favorite dance show. The musical features 1960’s style music and dance routines.
The show is set in 1962 Baltimore where Tracy Turnblad dreams of dancing on a local TV show, the Corny Collins Show. Her dream comes true, she gets on the show and she meets some real characters along the way.
Auditions dates and times are:
Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 8pm to 9:30pm
and Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 6pm to 8:30pm
Auditions at the Starlight Theater – Adults and Teens 14+
Hairspray will run two weekends August 14 to 23, 2015
Be prepared to read from the script. (Sides will be available at the audition.)
Music Audition: Please prepare (16-30 measures) of a song that best showcases your voice along with sheet music in your key for the pianist to play for you or you may choose to sing a capella (without music accompaniment).
