HBO Movie “Confirmation” Extras Call for College Student Looks & Kids – ATL

ABC Signature Studios and HBO are about to begin production on the film “Confirmation“

The film is set to begin production in June and will film in Atlanta through the summer. Atlanta area casting directors with Tammy Smith are now accepting submissions from talent who would like to work as paid extras and featured extras in the project. The movie will be needing lots of extras / background actors to play kids, congressmen, congresswomen, reporters, media, college students, professors and police officers. The film is set in 91 and is also looking to cast folks with car models of that time (1975 to 1991). Please see the below flyers for more information about the extras call.

The movie is based on the Anita Hill / Clarence Thomas scandal that rocked the Supreme Court confirmation hearings back in the early 90’s. Kerry Washington (“Scandal”) is set to play Anita Hill, the woman in the center of the scandal. “Treme” and “The Odd Couple star”,  Wendell Pierce will be playing Supreme Court justice, Clarence Thomas. The HBO film will center around the 1991 Supreme Court nomination hearings that brought sexual harassment to the to the forefront of the American public.

After Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme Court, a series of confirmation hearings took place in Washington. Those hearings took a sharp turn when a University of Oklahoma law professor by the name of Anita Hill came forward with accusations that Clarence Thomas had sexually harassed her when she worked for him. Anita Hill claimed that the Supreme Court nominee began harassing her after she declined his invitations of a date. The media quickly jumped on the story and turned the allegations into a media frenzy that Thomas called the hearings, “a high-tech lynching for uppity Blacks.” The accusations were a he said / she said ordeal but at the end, Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

“Confirmation”  will be directed and produced by Rick Famuyiwa. Executive producers for the project include Kerry Washington, Susannah Grant, Michael London and Janice Williams.

All talent must be local to the Atlanta area since travel expenses are not being paid. Atlanta area talent interested in applying for the roles may send the required information (see below) to EXTRAS@TSCASTING.COM.

Some specific roles that are being cast are:

Casting AFRICAN AMERICAN KIDS, ages 5 to 13,
to be family members (nieces/nephews) of Anita Hill

**NOTE: Girls hair must be natural hair and girls with braids need to be ok to have them taken out if selected.
Boys must be conservative short hair styles

IMPORTANT NOTES

• The pay rate for kids is $80 for 8 hrs with OT after that. (Minors can only work a max of a 10hr day)
• WORK DATE is WED June 24th and there will be a FITTING on MON June 22nd as well (all in Atlanta)
• It is mandatory that we process a work permit application for the state of Georgia for all minors to work on a film or show. In order to do that, you MUST have access to a printer/scanner OR fax machine for us to do this.
