“Independence Day 2” is filming in New Mexico and has a couple casting calls out for paid background extras.
The new sci-fi feature is currently seeking to fill some very featured roles for kids ages 9 to 14 and seeking background extras who are African American (see below for details). The project will be filming in the Albuquerque, NM area and is only considering locals for the roles. The kids cast will be working multiple days between now and June and the roles are described as being very featured. These are extras roles so no acting experience is required.
“Independence Day 2“, being called “Independence Day Forever” will be split into 2 parts it seems with “Independence Day Forever Part 1” to be released in theaters in the summer of 2016. According to the film’s IMDB page, the movie has a stunning budget of $200,000,000 and will star Jeff Goldblum, Vivica A. Fox, Bill Pullman, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Liam Hemsworth, Travis Tope, Jessie Usher. IMDB also reports that Will Smith will indeed be coming back for the sequel and reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller, though reports from different sources say he will not. Guess we shall wait and see.
IMDB reports that … “According to Roland Emmerich, Will Smith will be returning for the sequel & his character Captain Steven Hiller. Emmerich added, that Jeff Goldblum will be returning to reprise his role as David Levinson from Independence Day (1996) for the sequel.”
“Independence Day” was released in 1996 and the sequel will be set 20 years later when a new wave of alien ships arrive on Earth as reinforcements to the original ships that got their butts handed to them. Of course, a big battle will follow.
Roland Emmerich will be directing the new 20th Century FOX ID film and the NM film office reports that the movie will be filming all through the summer. The extras casting directors for the project are Tina Kerr and On Location Casting in New Mexico.
